Summer Of Rain

What a wonderful summer its been! Plenty of green grass to run in, roll in and nap in. The cool afternoon rain showers make me feel good. And about the time it quits raining the warm sun comes out.

..
The rain drops are beautiful with the sun shining on them.

Look, a double rainbow. They say there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
I would settle for a pot of dog food.

A PUPPIES LIFE
(This was sent to me by a new friend - Abbythedog)

A PUPPIES LIFE WHAT DOES IT HOLD
TO TOUCH A LIFE WITH STORIES UNTOLD
TO CREATE A JOY THAT COULD NEVER BE SOLD
OH WHAT A STORY THAT WE SHOULD ALWAYS BEHOLD

WE GIVE OUR LIVES TO WORK AND TOIL
AS LIFE GOES ON IN TROUBLE AND TURMOIL
YET WHEN WE GET HOME WHAT ALWAYS DO WE FIND
BUT THE JOYOUS LOVE OF OUR PUPPY, ALWAYS ON TIME

SHOULD OUR HEARTS EVER BE BURDENED OR DEEPLY SAD
WE CAN ALWAYS FIND SOLACE IN OUR PUPPIES HEART SO GLAD
ALWAYS THERE TO GREET YOU WITH THEIR TAIL WAGGING BOLD
AS THEIR HEARTS IN MISSING YOU, WITH THEIR LOVE TO UNFOLD

SO WHEN LIFE GETS TO TROUBLED AND WEARING YOU DOWN
DON'T GO AROUND SADDENED NOR WEARING A FROWN
JUST REMEMBER YOUR PUPPY WITH THEIR SWEET SMILING FACE
WILL ALWAYS BE THERE, FULL OF LOVE TO EMBRACE
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING OUR FRIEND
THROUGH A PUPPY OUR LIVES MEET AND FRIENDSHIPS BEGIN
AND IF THROUGH YOUR LIFE YOU NEVER REMEMBER OUR NAME
YET THROUGH OUR PUPPY YOU'LL NEVER BE THE SAME

ISN'T IT STRANGE OF THE THINGS GOD USES
TO SHOW HIS LOVE THROUGH THE THINGS HE CHOOSES
THIS TRULY IS THE UNTOLD STORY
OF THE PUPPIES LIFE SO FULL OF HIS GLORY

Aged Pecans

Story of the week
Annie, my dog cousin, related this true story to me. For those of you not from the Texas Panhandle let me give you a little background. It’s a great place to live but there is not a large variety of things to do for entertainment. At least not as many options as you folks that live in a more metropolitan area would be use to. Both adults and kids sometime have to create their own entertainment. So now the story

A Texas Panhandle family was having get-together at their rural ranch location. As with most events the food and conversation was abundant. As the parents were enjoying the evening two young girls came walking around the corner of the house. One girl was carrying a rope and the other a roll of duct tape. The girl with the rope goes up to her mom and asks; “Mom, do you know where the dog is?”

And you were wondering why the dog hides when the relatives come over. As Paul Harvey says - - And now, you know the rest of the story.

Pecan Treasures

"I know its here somewhere!"

"Yea, I remember putting it here."

"Chubs, there is nothing better than a well aged pecan."

What is the difference between a dog and a cat?
A dog lives in your house and sees that you give it food and water and says to itself, "Wow, these beings give me food and water without my having to do anything. They must be gods!"

A cat lives in your house and sees that you give it food and water and says to itself, "Wow, these beings give me food and water without my having to do anything. I must be a god!"

Shuttle Dog

See The Space Shuttle In Orbit

This week the shuttle Endeavor lifted off to dock with the International Space Station.

Have you ever seen the space station or shuttle in orbit? At certain times you can see it while standing outside your house. If you live in town you may have to drive out into the country but it can be seen without any binoculars or telescope.

Next Sunday, The 19th, will be a great opportunity. If you live in the Texas Panhandle at 9:37pm you can look North-North-West, 10 degrees above the horizon for it to appear. It will be visible for 3 minutes and be traveling to the North-East. Listed below are other sighting opportunities for the Texas Panhandle.

You can use this link for NASA Satellite Sighting Information for updates on times and locations any where in the US. Simply click on your state then on a town close to where you live. It will give you sighting information for both the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle. Click for more information on Endeavors mission and progress.

It is really cool to watch the shuttle orbit overhead so watch the sky next Sunday night!

Nothing like a good shower

Tonight, Sunday the 12th, step out side for a really good meteor shower. The Perseids Meteor shower should peek between midnight and three in the morning. This year it will be easy to see because the moon will not be in view. Pour a big glass of ice tea, get a comfortable lawn chair, put a few dog treats in your pocket and spend the evening with your best friend looking up at the sky.

Proof Dogs Are Smarter Than Cats

It's Okay To Be A Church Dog

Wisdom Anyone?
By: Suzanne Richardsonmailto:Richardsonmailing@tddm.org

If anyone of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

I learned something new this year when I took a group of youth from my church to summer camp. Now understand, I always learn something at camp but this time I'm still feeling it almost a week later!

You see, things happen when there is a group of teens and time to spare. Somehow, some way, new games are created and usually someone has to test them out to see if they are fun and worth repeating. Well, I can't say I was the first one to volunteer but I forgot my age and thought this new thing looked hilarious....ok, enough excuses! We had mattress wars! Two people are on opposite sides of the room holding a twin size mattress straight up in front of them. When someone yells, "Go!", they run head on into each other like a couple of banchees! It literally felt like I'd been in a car wreck! You know the crazy thing about it all - I didn't stop after the first time! It took me 5 times to finally have enough. Talk about hitting your head against a brick wall!

When I think back on it now, I know it was a stupid decision to participate. I knew I was going to suffer for it physically but I just had to try it. Sounds like a lot of other decisions I've made in my life that have gotten me into trouble. The temptation is so subtle sometimes that you aren't even aware it's pulling you in the wrong direction. I think to myself, "What could possibly go wrong?" HA! Man oh man, if I only had the wisdom of God at those times, I wouldn't be hobbling around right now! If I had only asked God, like the scripture above says, He would have given me the wisdom I needed and I wouldn't be feeling it so much today. If only.....

Got any stupid decisions you've made? It's not too late to learn from them and make better choices tomorrow. Better yet, choose to ask God next time - He gives free advise to those to ask, and amazingly it's always what's best for us!
